The Australian cyber insurance market has reported a $17 million underwriting gain in the September quarter, indicating a steady demand for cyber risk coverage.
Gross written premium for this sector increased to $53 million, up from $39 million in the same period last year, reflecting the growing recognition of cyber threats among businesses.

Despite the rise in incurred claims to $41 million from $28 million, the market's profitability underscores the importance of cyber insurance in today's digital landscape. However, the average premium per risk declined to $6,424 from $7,144, suggesting increased competition and market capacity.

For freelancers and self-employed professionals, this trend highlights the critical need to assess cyber risks and consider appropriate insurance coverage. As cyber threats continue to evolve, having a robust cyber insurance policy can provide financial protection and peace of mind.
